Brendan Moore
Brendan Moore creates wood-fired pottery in Kent, Connecticut, where he has fired with ceramic artist Joy Brown for over fifteen years. Inspired by the simplicity of Shaker design and traditional Japanese wood-fired ceramics, his work reflects a deep connection to form, utility, and process. Originally drawn to pinch pots during recovery from knee surgery, hand-building became his primary way of working—an approach rooted in accessibility, direct touch, and repetition. His cups, vessels, and small utility objects embrace the marks of the hand alongside the transformative effects of flame, ash, and atmosphere. Shaped by physical experience, everyday ritual, and an ongoing exploration of form and fire, his work reflects a quiet balance between simplicity, function, and the unpredictability of wood firing.
